Economic relations with Pakistan are in US interest: Donald Bloom

In a statement to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, US Ambassador-designate to Pakistan Donald Bloom said that enhancing trade and economic relations with Pakistan was in the interest of the United States.

“As ambassador, I would urge Pakistan to act indiscriminately against terrorist groups, and for Pakistan and the United States to work together against al Qaeda, ISIS and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan,” Bloom said.

He further said that Pakistan would be urged to take action against Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad as well, adding that the region could not tolerate any other conflict. India and Pakistan have to work for bilateral relations.

The US Ambassador-designate to Pakistan also said that the treatment of minorities has tarnished Pakistan’s image. He also said that voice would be raised for the rights of minorities and religious freedom. Pakistan would be asked not to harass journalists and human rights activists. Be done
